Somber Reflection

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
"Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. "

Great quote, my love. Here's one by Margaret Thatcher: "The only problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money."

Ain't it the truth!

All the more interesting since Jefferson tied with Aaron Burr for President and only after 36 ballots was he elected by the House of Representatives. Mainly because Alexander Hamilton (somewhat the father of American banking)convinced his party that Jefferson would be a lesser political evil than Burr.

All along it has been about "follow the money"!
